The Digital Home environment is the last buidling block of an IPTV solution ecosystem: the end-user or home side. It defines an entire networked ecosystem by itself, to which a full set of technologies and services apply.

Digital Home Device Management

Scope of the solution

The objectives of the CME Solution Center is to create a Digital Home Manageability solution framework with key management capabilities for the Service Provider and to develop a "Digital Home Ecosystem" based on Intel-based platforms and HP or partners solutions.

The scope of this solution (phase 1) is to create and deploy Motive HDM remote device management solution and Intel ViiV Management ecosystem.

Solution overview

To manage the complexity of increasing numbers of broadband subscribers and home devices, broadband service providers must automate and streamline the operational processes that provide the foundation for new revenue-generating services.

Motive's Fully Automated Service Technology (FAST) Solutions™ comprise a set of integrated components that work together to help broadband providers rapidly and cost-effectively design, deploy and support new services for high speed data, home networking, IPTV and VoIP, on any device and on any wired or wireless network.

Key benefits of the solution

  • Simplifies and lowers the cost of provisoning, activating and support of home devices
  • Faster time-to-market of new media services
  • Supports subscriber self-installation of IPTV
  • Automates the configuration of key IPTV-related devices in the home
  • Enables customers to resolve common IPTV issues using nothing more than their TV and remote control
  • Gives CSRs real-time access to set-top-box and residential gateway diagnostics regardless of device connection state
  • Allows help desk personnel to remotely control and manage key IPTV service delivery elements in the home.
