HP Digital Media Solution is designed to help reduce the costs and time-to-deployment for end-to-end digital media solutions and services.

As profits from voice and data connectivity shrink, telcos are looking to rich media or digital media services, as a way to increase their average revenue per user (ARPU). They need a way to streamline the process of content acquisition and transmission and they need a solution with open standards to connect different formats from content providers with different solutions and applications for content acquisition, transcoding, and distribution.
To enable this new model for embracing and streamlining the digital media value chain and ignite new revenue opportunities, HP and its strategic partners have introduced the Digital Media Solution (DMS). DMS is a solution development platform architected to reduce the complexity and cost of building a complete Media Life Cycle Management system.

Key technologies

DMS aims to provide an integration platform that moves away from a point-to-point integration approach to a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), with the flexibility to integrate best of the breed Media applications (Digital content ingestion, re-purposing and distribution systems, Digital Asset Management, Digital Rights Management applications, etc.)

DMS is made of three main layers:

  • Media service bus which provides the foundation for building services in a transport and platform agnostic manner. DMS Adapter SDK allows the integration of best of the breed products in the media solution.
  • DMS Core provides media and support services that are commonly required in a media solution (metadata, storage, security, collaboration, notification, etc.)
  • Workflow layer orchestrates multiple applications and services depending on a media solution's business process.

Target segments

  • Content Creators/Owners
  • Content Aggregators
  • Content Distributors

Value Added Services that require DMS

  • Digital Content Management
  • Digital Content Aggregation
  • Digital Content Distribution

Benefits of DMS

  • Rapid building of a Media life-cycle management system
  • Third party, best-of-breed, components integration
  • Centralized system monitoring
  • Customizable user interface
  • Extensive workflow process mapping
