HP and Intel have assembled an end-to-end Video-on-Demand solution that addresses both DRM (Digital Rights Management) and Conditional Access System components.

Solution overview

HP and Intel's partners include Widevine Technologies ® who provides open-standard content security solutions fully integrated into the VOD value chain. Running on HP ProLiant server based on Intel Xeon processor, this solution cost effectively provides Conditional Access, Digital Rights Management and persistent encryption to homes using Set-Top-Boxes (STB) with Intel Celeron processors.

Digital Rights Management and Conditional Access are a collection of technologies that enforce licensing of digital information. They make it possible for commercial publishers to distribute valuable content electronically, without endangering their revenue stream by exposing content to unauthorized users.

Widevine Cypher ® suite of CA, Broadcast and VOD products create a state of the art content protection solution based on unique intellectual property that maintains persistent encryption for a secure end-to-end digital content service solution.

Key components

HP has integrated their Intel based HP ProLiant servers with best in class software from Widevine Technologies to create a complete end-to-end solution for a new generation of content protection. The cost effective processing of the family of Intel Xeon processors allows the placement of powerful reliable servers at every manipulation point in the chain of events to deliver secured content from the studio all the way to the consumer. The solution comprises the following:

  • HP ProLiant Server based on the Intel Xeon processor family
  • HP's IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) ecosystem
  • Widevine Cypher ® suite of DRM and CAS products incorporating persistent, transparent, Application Level Encryption
  • Rapid security renewal using Widevine Cypher Virtual SmartCard™ technology.
