By providing video service enablers running on BEA SIP AS that leverage HP OCMP video, service providers can easily deliver multimedia applications.

The business challenge

Video services represent a strong business driver for 3G and broadband communications. However, how do they best take advantage of the opportunity? Once they launch video services, how do they ensure compelling user experiences that will generate steady uptake in 3G video service adoption? Poor user interfaces and complex user interactions have proven to be key deterrents to video service adoption. Addressing this challenge head-on, the IMS-SDP solution fully leverages standard handset capabilities to provide a good video 3G user experience.

HP has defined a solution to facilitate the Next Generation Service infrastructure deployment, called HP Service Delivery Platform (SDP). This solution embraces requirements for a robust flexible and open service development platform (SDP) and a next generation IP based multimedia service infrastructure (IMS).

Solution overview

The solution highlights the integration of OMCP video and BEA SIP AS to provide video capabilities. To demonstrate theses capabilities, the video karaoke application has been designed to leverage video enablers running on top of BEA and exposed through the HP 3rd Party Framework.

In addition, the integration of Unipier IPM (Intelligent Policy Manager) with the 3rd Party Framework allows to apply policies to provide access to the solution and to wrap the karaoke application as a product to be paid (different charging plans have been defined).
