Increasing productivity and reducing costs are two primary drivers behind businesses turning to virtual conferencing. This, coupled with a progressively more distributed workforce where staff telecommutes or collaborate from different locations, requires a comprehensive solution.

Business challenge

Operators can make the move to IP voice conferencing with some objectives in mind:

  • Reduce CSPs OPEX/NETEX and create cost savings for the enterprise
  • Match current TDM automated feature set for easy migration
  • Revenue generation by introducing differentiated business conferencing services (more user control, customized services, managed conferencing services…).

Solution overview

HP and Ubiquity are partnering to deliver turnkey converged conferencing/collaboration solutions that combine Ubiquity’s SIP Application Server, Speak IP Conferencing Application, and HP’s best of breed Media Server hardware/software, Computing hardware, and integration services.

The solution includes:

  • Network assets that enables convergence of the Internet with voice communications with a combination of fixed (via a PSTN GW), mobile and broadband network elements in the NSP network – Thanks to HP Media Server, service providers can provide TDM or IP connectivity (OCMP supports ss7 and IP)
  • The audio conferencing service enabler embodied in the Ubiquity Speak Conferencing Manager, a SIP-servlet running on top of the Ubiquity SIP Application Server and providing means to coordinate the conferences
  • A Web Application Server that exposes to end users access to the Speak service via HTTP using a standard based web browser. An intuitive web based user interface is available for organizing and scheduling conferences
  • OpenClovis Application Service Platform (ASP), a middleware that offers a comprehensive set of modular, portable, and reusable software components. It is designed for system management and high availability in terms of functionality for their next-generation communication products.
