Solution overview |
 |
 |
| HP offers an end-to-end secure mobility solution for semi-public WLANs which encompass many levels of security through the use of HP ProCurve networking products. The HP Adaptive EDGE Architecture for ProCurve improves security, simplifies complexity and better manages bandwith.
The solution is designed around three key components:
- Edge layer uses 802.11 Wi-Fi connectivity from the Access Point to all devices: laptop and desktop PCs, printers, overhead projectors, security cameras , iPAQ PDAs and tablet PCs.
- Middle layer of Access Controllers secures the network, preventing non-authorized users from accessing restricted parts of the networks, or are completely locked out from the switch port.
- Intelligent switching infrastructure with leading edge layer 2-3-4 switching and routing capabilities puts smart processing where it is needed, in the core and at the edge.
The whole solution is managed by centralized management consisting of HP OpenView, HP ProCurve Manager, 3rd party management software and multi-vendors firewalls. |

Target market |
 |
 |
| Semi-public Wi-Fi hotspot LANs include both private WLAN capabilities with all of their integrated security, plus the flexibility of public Wi-Fi hotspots. Suitable for any corporation, semi-public hotspots are of special importance to businesses who host on-site visitors:
- Hospital and health care facilities
- Hotels
- Universities and schools
- Communities sites such as libraries, community centers and government administration offices
Enterprises are also interested, not only for their internal employees, but because todays WLAN technologies make normal wired LANs more secure, it is now possible to collaboratively share the company LAN with customers and partners. |
