HP Video On Demand over IP is a standards-based Video over IP platform, which allows service providers to quickly and cost-effectively integrate, implement and successfully manage a high-quality video delivery service for their subscribers.

Solution overview

HP VOD-IP solutions offer reliable support for e-commerce integration, as well as pay-per-view and/or subscription billing models. End users will enjoy an intuitive, user-friendly interface that provides detailed information about the full range of content available and allows them to select from any of the programming options which are of interest. Suddenly, subscribers can watch live broadcasts or on-demand video content whenever, wherever and however they want, through a rich feature set that includes the ability to play, pause, rewind or fast-forward through content scenes.

Solution architecture and technology

An HP VOD-IP solution is comprised of four core elements:

  • A High-speed Access Network - networks involved in the transmission of the IP traffic.
  • Head End Equipment - antennas, receivers, encoders, digital turn-around systems and video servers used to present video streams to the network
  • Customer Premises Equipment - Modem, Set-Top-Box, PCs
  • Middleware - a client-server service management software, which interacts with the access network, the head-end(s) and the Set-Top-Boxes to enable the provisioning and delivery of the Interactive Television services

HP and its best-of-breed partners have installed, tested, benchmarked and pre-integrated the various technology elements to provide a complete solution that enables telecommunication providers to have confidence in the reliability and interoperability of the HP VOD-IP solution.
